MIXED BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR A QUARTER-PLANE WITH A ROBIN CONDITION
We consider a mixed boundary value problem for a quarter-plane with a Robin condition on one edge. We have developed two procedures, one based on the advanced theory of dual integral equations and the other, in our opinion simpler technique, relying on conformal mapping. Both of the procedures are of interest, because the former may be easier to adapt to other boundary value problems.
متن کاملInitial-Boundary Value Problem for Hyperbolic Equations
where Ji = 0 for x0 < 0. The problem is to find necessary and sufficient conditions on B(x, B) such that the initial-boundary value problem (1), (2), (3) is well-posed. Note that all theorems that a;re formulated below will also apply to the case when (1) is a general hyperbolic equation or a hyperbolic system of equations of arbitrary order provided that all components of the characteristic co...
متن کاملHidden Symmetry in a Kuramoto-Sivashinsky Initial-Boundary Value Problem
We investigate the bifurcation structure of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. Using hidden symmetry principles, based on an extended problem with periodic boundary conditions and O(2) symmetry, we show that the zero solution exhibits two kinds of pitchfork bifurcations: one that breaks the reflection symmetry of the system with Dirichlet boundary ...
متن کاملThe Initial Boundary Value Problem of a Mixed-typed Hemivariational Inequality
A mixed-typed differential inclusion with a weakly continuous nonlinear term and a nonmonotone discontinuous nonlinear multi-valued term is studied, and the existence and decay of solutions are established. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary 34G20, 35M10, 35M20.
متن کاملA numerical solution of a singular boundary value problem arising in boundary layer theory
In this paper, a second-order nonlinear singular boundary value problem is presented, which is equivalent to the well-known Falkner-Skan equation. And the one-dimensional third-order boundary value problem on interval [Formula: see text] is equivalently transformed into a second-order boundary value problem on finite interval [Formula: see text]. The finite difference method is utilized to solv...
